#1 Madison Central handles #2 Pearl

In front of a packed stadium in Madison, Mississippi, the #1 ranked and undefeated Madison Central Jaguars took down the #2 ranked Pearl Pirates.  Dandy Dozen quarterback, Jimmy Holiday, put on a show.  Passing for 160 yards on 9 of 13 passes and Rushing for 255 yards on 17 carries, Holiday scored 5 touchdowns.  4 on the ground, 1 in the air.  His performance earned him the ultimate compliment,”He’s the best player in the state,” Pearl head coach John Perry said.  Holiday scored on an 82 yard run to start the second quarter which made the fans in the jungle jump to their feet.

Kenyatta Harrell was able to gain 226 yards on the ground with several incredible runs. Harrell’s ability to break tackles and speed gave the Jags defense fits.  To their credit, they bent, but didn’t break.  They stiffened when it counted most.

Madison Central won 34 to 21.  Both schools are off next week.  The next game for Jags is September 27 versus Clinton.  The next game for the Pirates is September 27 is Petal.  Madison Central will remain number one in the new poll, even with the loss, expect Pearl to remain in the top 5.
